The Ohio State football program has been known for its ridiculous receiver talent for the past five years or so. Every year, they churn out great receivers into the NFL. Because of that, more great receivers want to join the program so that they can be the next star.

While there are four receivers who are going to get the bulk of the snaps this year and have already played, there is a star in waiting. Carnell Tate is going to be the next star receiver that the Ohio State football program produces. He’s going to be really good.

Tate enrolled early and showed off his skills in Spring practices. He really caught the eye of the offensive coaching staff. There’s a chance he ends up being the fifth receiver on this year’s team because of how well he played this Spring. He’s that good.

Tate is from IMG Academy in Florida and stands at 6’2 and 180 pounds. He was a borderline five-star prospect and was ranked as such by some of the recruiting services. With his combination of size and speed, he is going to be really hard for opposing defenses to cover.

We’re going to have to wait a year to see the full impact of what Tate can do on the field. Most of his snaps this season will be in mop-up duty. That’s okay though. He can get some reps that he needs in his freshman season before coming onto the scene as a sophomore, just like Marvin Harrison Jr.

I can’t wait to see how good Tate can be. With two other fantastic receivers coming in next year, the Buckeyes are in good shape at the receiver position. That should continue as long as Brian Hartline remains on staff with the Buckeyes.
