Ohio State Football: QB commit Air Noland wins Elite 11 Regional
By Eric Boggs
Ohio State football Head Coach Ryan Day and Quarterbacks Coach Corey Dennis continue to identify, recruit, and develop top-tier quarterback talent around the nation. Their 2024 recruiting class got off to a bang when overall number one ranked quarterback Dylan Raiola committed on May 9, of last year. That was short-lived however, when he de-committed this past December.
Day and Dennis didn’t sit still long, turning their recruiting attention south when they landed on Air Noland, a left-handed signal caller from Fairburn, Georgia who led Langston Hughes High School to a Georgia State Championship. Noland made his official visit to Ohio State on March, 31. The Buckeyes offered the very next day and he made his commitment seven days later after visiting Alabama in between the offer and his commitment.
Noland will now represent Ohio State at the Elite 11 Finals, the most famous high school quarterback competition in the nation after being given the invitation following a regional final that included beating out Michigan’s five-star quarterback commit Jadyn Davis.
Past Ohio State quarterbacks who competed in the Elite 11 Finals include current Ohio State quarterbacks, Devin Brown and Kyle McCord, along with past quarterbacks C.J. Stroud, Justin Fields, Tate Martell, Dwayne Haskins, Rob Schoenhoft, Troy Smith, and Justin Zwick. Stroud was named the MVP of the 2019 competition while Fields was named the MVP in 2017.
Noland’s quick release, arm strength, and athleticism are a rare combination. After watching most of the junior highlight films of the top 2024 quarterback recruits, I believe Day and Dennis have recruited the right guy. Noland has great size and leadership skills that put you in mind of J.T. Barrett with a Dwayne Haskins kind of arm.
The Ohio State football team should continue to get elite quarterback recruits as long as Day is leading the program.
