Ohio State football: Bucks looking in Michigan for next QB recruit
The Ohio State football team and head coach Ryan Day are looking inside enemy territory for its 2025 quarterback recruit.
The Ohio State football program went into Georgia for its last quarterback recruit in 2024 four-star Air Nolan, who verbally committed last month. But Ryan Day and quarterbacks coach Corey Dennis are headed north to the state of Michigan to try and land its 2025 QB. Five-star and No. 3 overall 2025 prospect Bryce Underwood came to Columbus for a visit over the weekend.
Underwood, from Belleville, is the No. 1 quarterback in the class according to 247 Sports. He was the Max Preps freshman of the year in 2023 throwing for nearly 4,000 yards and 39 touchdowns while winning a state championship.
The Buckeyes offered Underwood last year and he seems to be receptive to Ohio State as this recruitment might be a huge battle between Ryan Day and Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh. The 6-foot-2 Underwood looks the part of a dynamic quarterback already and still has a few more years to mature before playing in college.
With the obvious success that Day has had recently of developing three straight first-round NFL talents, Underwood would be crazy for not giving the Buckeyes some serious thought. Harbaugh really only has Andrew Luck under his belt as someone he can point at and say he developed. This really should be a fascinating recruitment and I can’t wait to see how it plays out.
In other recruiting news, the annual Under Armour Ohio Camp was held this weekend and a number of future Buckeyes showed up and showed off their skills. Top amongst them was 2024 running back recruit, Sam Williams-Dixon who was named camp MVP of the running backs.
Other Buckeyes at the camp were linebacker Garrett Stover and five-star receiver Mylan Graham. Another 2025 quarterback recruit who the Buckeyes are high on, Ryan Montogomery, was also there slinging passes around.
