Former Ohio State football player Caleb Burton is one of two receivers that decided to transfer out of the program after the Spring Game. The Buckeyes have a whole host of receivers that are slated to get playing time over the next couple of seasons, and Burton wasn’t going to be one of them.

At any rate, Burton announced that he was entering the portal a couple of weeks ago. He has now decided where he will be playing football this season. He announced that he will be playing down south in the SEC at Auburn for Hugh Freeze.

Burton heads to a school that isn’t necessarily known for its great receivers. That doesn’t mean that he can’t be one while he’s down there. Even though he didn’t see playing time while with the Ohio State football team, that doesn’t mean he isn’t still a good receiver.

Auburn won’t be one of the favorites to win the SEC. They won’t even be the favorite to win their own division. But Burton does give them some talent on the outside to throw to. He should be able to compete for a starting job as one of the two main receivers.

Burton becomes the second Buckeye receiver to reveal their transfer destination as Kaleb Brown recently made an announcement that he will be staying in the Big Ten after transferring to Iowa. Now, both have new homes and can prepare for the upcoming season.

I wouldn’t expect either Burton or Brown to be major impact players for their new programs right off the bat. They might be able to next season after they’ve had a full off-season with their new teams. Neither offense is ready to be that explosive yet.
