The Ohio State football team had to play a playoff game on New Year’s Eve last year. It was extremely annoying for any Buckeye fan because they had to plan around that. It’s very stupid that the CFP decides to put games on New Year’s. Well, guess what? You’re going to get more of them!

The CFP just announced the schedule for the 2024 and 2025 seasons when the CFP expands to 12 teams. In those two years, there will be four games on New Year’s Eve. Ohio State football fans might get more of what they had to deal with last year depending on how things shake out.

Not only is putting games on New Year’s Eve stupid, but it’s also going to affect ratings. The only reason why they were only good last year is because Ohio State and Georgia, two iconic programs with massive fanbases, were in the game. That won’t happen all of the time.

Another issue with the new CFP schedule is that the 5-8 seeds get to host playoff games on their campus while the 1-4 seeds do not. While they do get a Bye, they don’t get any of the revenue that the lower seeds will get for hosting that game. Instead, they have to play at a neutral bowl site.

That’s very dumb in my eyes. I don’t know why they can’t just do the final four at neutral sites as it has been for the last few years. Give the better seeds the advantage that they deserve. Instead, they only get the rest and not the additional home-field advantage.

Next. Ohio State gets two commitments on the same day. dark

Expanding to 12 teams was always going to happen. I bet you it will expand again at some point too. Presidents are too greedy and will want more games because it equals more revenue. Unfortunately, that’s how college football is these days.
