The Ohio State football team lost its second receiver to the portal within a week. Kaleb Brown will be playing elsewhere this fall.

The Ohio State football team is going through some roster changes as players are both entering and leaving via the transfer portal. The latest Buckeye player to enter the portal is second-year wide receiver Kaleb Brown. This follows the portal entry of Caleb Burton last week.

It’s been said for a while now, and even Ryan Day alluded to it this Spring, that the second-year receivers are going to be pushed by the incoming freshmen. Brown and Burton took notice and decided their best opportunity would be elsewhere in 2023.

Brown came to Columbus with a lot of hype as the No. 79 overall player and a four-star recruit from the Chicago land area. He was a big-time get at the time, but with the emergence of freshmen Noah Rodgers and Carnell Tate, Brown probably would have been lost in the shuffle a bit.

The No. 1 receiver in the 2023 recruiting class, Brandon Inniss, is still not on campus yet and could also figure into a role this season with the amount of talent he comes into Columbus with.

Brown becomes the fourth member of the Ohio State football team to enter the portal this Spring, joining Burton, kicker Jake Siebert, and offensive lineman Ben Christman. This also comes on the heels of the news that the Buckeyes finally got its offensive tackle from the portal, former San Diego State lineman Josh Simmons.

dark. Next. Four Buckeyes land on the same NFL team

This leaves Ohio State with 11 scholarship receivers, which is probably a good number for them in that spot. They were a little heavy sitting at 13 players. Ohio State is still over on the 85-scholarship limit so they will still need some attrition on that number.
