Ohio State Football: Zach Harrison drafted to Falcons
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football program had a long wait on Friday to have their first player taken on the day. Surprisingly, no Buckeye was taken in the second round. Instead, it wasn’t until the middle of the third round that the first Buckeye of the day was taken.
That Ohio State football player was Zach Harrison. He was taken 75th overall by the Atlanta Falcons. He was a five-star recruit that couldn’t quite live up to that billing as a transcendent star while he was with the Buckeyes but was still fairly solid this past year.
Harrison is one of the most athletic players that the Buckeyes had on defense last year. His athleticism just could never quite translate to making enough big plays. But as a third-round pick, he’s worth the gamble from a team that needs talent on the defense.
I hope that Harrison is able to play up to his full potential at the next level. I’d love to see him have a really nice NFL career. He has all of the physical tools to do it. If he gets some coaching that can help him get that next gear that he needs to hit to make plays consistently.
Harrison has one of the biggest upsides in terms of the defensive end position in this draft. I really like this value for Atlanta and he could end up being a starter for the team in a couple of years if things go well. He’s got that kind of talent.
