Several former Ohio State football players will realize their dreams of playing in the NFL when they hear their names called this weekend during the NFL Draft. The first round starts tonight and that’s when C.J. Stroud will hear his name called. We don’t know how soon that will be though.

Part of that is because of this ridiculous S2 test thing. Stroud was reported to have scored in the 18th percentile of test takers, which is quite low. While this test doesn’t have anything to actually playing football, people are using it as a tool to drive down his stock.

Stroud finally addressed this yesterday by letting people know that he’s “not a test taker” and that he will prove how smart he is on the field. Stroud said that his tape speaks for itself and that he doesn’t have anything left to prove to anyone at this point.

I like his response. I don’t think this test has an immediate 100% correlation to how successful a quarterback will be in the NFL. He carved up the best defense in college football in the Peach Bowl last season. If the Ohio State football team’s defense was any good last year he would have won a national title.

The question with Stroud isn’t processing speed. It’s whether or not he will use his legs to extend plays. He finally did that against Georgia and that’s why his stock shot up after the college football season ended. If the NFL gets that version, he’s going to be a star.

One OSU player rising up draft boards. dark. Next

But if he refuses to run like he did most of his career, he’s going to be average. It’s as simple as that. I think that Stroud will run when needed though. I think he’s the safest quarterback pick in this draft and whatever team gets him will be thrilled.
