There was a lot of talk about former Ohio State football player C.J. Stroud heading into the 2023 NFL Draft. He didn’t do well on the S2 test, which supposedly is supposed to measure how quickly you process information. He was actually the lowest-scoring quarterback who took it.

It didn’t matter. Stroud was still taken second overall by the Houston Texans. Clearly, there was some information leaked by other teams to try to get him to fall further than that. It didn’t work. The Texans needed a quarterback and they got their franchise guy.

Stroud is the highest-drafted quarterback in decades. He now has a chance to buck the bad Ohio State quarterback narrative that has started floating around in recent years. Stroud is the best pure passer of the Ohio State quarterbacks to come out in the last few years.

Stroud is the first Ohio State football player to be drafted in 2023, but he certainly won’t be the last. He also won’t be the last first-round pick. There should be at least two other first-round picks. Stroud deserves to get picked this high and he has a lot of doubters to prove wrong.

Two quarterbacks went in the first two picks of this draft, which is how it was supposed to be all along. It’ll be interesting to see if Stroud can have a better NFL career than Bryce Young, who was selected first overall. We certainly will be following his career all the way through.
