The NFL Draft is just two days away now. Multiple Ohio State football players are hoping to hear their names called this weekend. Some will hear them called sooner than others. One particular Buckeye seems to be rising up draft boards right before it starts.

That player is Jaxon Smith-Njigba. There are reports out there that he very well could be the only receiver taken in this year’s Draft, and he could end up being a top-15 pick. JSN really only played one healthy season for the Buckeyes but it was a great season.

In that 2021 season, Smith-Njigba led the Buckeyes in receptions and yards. He had 95 catches for 1,606 yards and 9 touchdowns. He was the best player the Buckeyes had on either side of the ball that season. Unfortunately, his final season didn’t pan out very well.

JSN played just three games and had just five catches for 43 yards. He hurt his hamstring and shut himself down for the rest of the season to preserve draft stock. That didn’t sit well with a lot of Buckeye fans, including me. I think he quit on the team and I know he could’ve come back.

That doesn’t seem to have hurt his stock among NFL teams. He’s still the best route-runner in this draft class and can get open better than anyone else. His hands are immaculate and he does great things after the catch. As long as he stays healthy, he’ll be a great asset to an NFL team.

I’m very interested to see where JSN gets taken this weekend. No matter where he goes, I think he will be a weapon. I just hope he stays out of the AFC South because I know the Colts won’t be getting him and I’d rather not face him twice a year.
