Ohio State football NFL Mock Draft 3.0
Wypler has been projected anywhere from a second to a fifth-round draft choice. I think he’s a third-round talent, just a notch below the level of former Buckeye center Josh Myers, who was also a third-round pick.
Wypler obviously has the smarts for the position as he started in just his second season in Columbus and held the position for two years. The question for him in the NFL is if he has the strength. Maybe not a day-one starter just yet, but Wypler has a chance to anchor the Saints’ offensive line for years to come if developed properly.
This is where a need from a desperate team comes into play for the former five-star player from Lewis Center, Ohio. The Browns, who don’t have a ton of draft capital following the trade for Deshaun Watson, have a clear need at defensive end.
And with Harrison’s stock dropping a bit recently, the Browns could take a swing on a player who has a ton of potential. Harrison has great size for a defensive end and should contribute immediately as a solid run defender.
The Rams look to strike gold twice in drafting former Ohio State safeties in the sixth round. A few years back they drafted Jordan Fuller, who has since turned into a starter and team captain. Hickman is a solid player in the box but doesn’t have great ball skills or speed to be any every down player in the NFL. He’ll have to earn some playing time on special teams if he wants to see the field as a rookie.
And that’s where I draw the line. I believe seven Ohio State players will be drafted in 2023. Safety Tanner McCalister, defensive tackle Taron Vincent, and corner Cam Brown all have a chance at getting selected, but I believe it’s unlikely. Hopefully, they get a chance somewhere as a UDFA.
There you have it Buckeye fans, our third and final mock draft. What do you think?
