Ohio State basketball schedules home-and-home with SEC foe
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State basketball team is slowly filling out its schedule for next season. We learned about a neutral site game last week that they will be playing in Cleveland. Today, we learned that the Buckeyes have scheduled a home-and-home with Texas A&M.
This year, the Aggies will travel to Columbus to take on Ohio State. They will play on November 10th. Next season, the Buckeyes will travel to College Station to return the favor. It will be just the third time that these two teams have played in their histories.
I like this move. A&M is not a powerhouse program, but they are pretty decent. It gives the Buckeyes a couple of winnable games in the next couple of years. If they lose them, it won’t kill their resume because A&M is typically a very solid program.
I also like playing teams that you don’t typically play. The Ohio State basketball program very seldom plays SEC teams in the regular season, so I think it’s fun to see them play new teams. It’s always good to get a diversity of opponents when it comes to scheduling.
The rest of the Buckeyes’ schedule still needs to be filled out and we will likely learn what the full schedule is later this Spring. I’m interested to see who Holtmann wanted to play in the non-conference slate because this team is either going to be pretty good or really bad again.
We’ll see how the Buckeyes are able to do this year after disappointing in 2022-23. Hopefully, they can get back on track to making the NCAA Tournament.
