7. Maurice Clarett

Maurice Clarett was one of the great lost players in Ohio State football history. He was so good as a freshman and it looked like he was set to dominate the rest of the Big Ten for three years before turning pro. We all know that didn’t happen for reasons I won’t get into right now.

When it was all said and done, Clarett played just one year for the Buckeyes, but man was it a great one. In the 2022 season, the true freshman was the focal point of the offense. He finished the season with 1,237 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns.

Against TTUN when the Buckeyes were trying to seal up a spot in the National Championship Game, Clarett ran the ball 20 times for 119 yards and a touchdown. He also caught two passes for 35 yards. He helped Ohio State to a 14-9 victory and seal up that national title spot.

Again, the reason why TTUN fans hate him is because he is the face of a national championship team. The 2002 Ohio State football team is considered one of the biggest underdogs to ever win a national title. Clarett was a big reason why they were able to get it done.

The next player on this list has one of the most iconic moments of the past two decades in The Game.
