Three players Ohio State Football should target in the transfer portal
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team is finished with their Spring season after last weekend’s Spring Game. Now, they are looking to possibly add players from the transfer portal like every other school in the country now that the portal window has opened up.
With that portal window, there are hundreds of players who have decided that after Spring practices they weren’t going to get the playing time they wanted. Now, those kids are looking for a new place to play. Ohio State could be looking to add some of those players.
There are areas of need on this roster for sure. Tackle is a position that doesn’t look great right now and didn’t look great during the Spring Game either. That could be a position that they look to improve using the portal so that they can be better once Fall rolls around.
There are three players that I think the Buckeyes should take a really close look at adding from the portal. The first player is from a different OSU.
1. Emmanual Pregnon
As I just mentioned, the Buckeyes need help on the offensive line, specifically at the tackle position. Adding a tackle like Emmanuel Pregnon would help them. Etienne is huge, standing at 6’6 and 318 pounds. He started for Wyoming a year ago.
Adding someone with Power 5 starting experience would be huge for a team that doesn’t have starting experience from either tackle position right now. The Buckeyes would greatly benefit from having someone that can anchor at least one of the tackle positions that’s done it before.
Getting Pregnon and pushing him out to tackle could be a good answer to that. He’s big enough to play the position of right tackle. The question is whether or not he has the lateral foot speed to play outside. We’ll see if the Buckeyes go after him.
The next player on this list actually plays tackle and would be an immediate plug-and-play.
