Ohio State Football: Buckeyes closing in on pair of CB recruits
The Ohio State football team continues its recruitment of two highly sought-after Ohio cornerbacks in the class of 2024.
The Ohio State football team and head coach Ryan Day currently have the No. 1 recruiting class in the country for 2024. With 12 verbal commitments already under their belt, Ohio State is in need of adding to the defensive side of the ball as 10 of them are on offense.
With that said, the Buckeyes are trying to close in on a pair of Ohio corners who would help bolster this secondary. Cornerbacks coach Tim Walton has been working hard on Cleveland Glenville four-star corner Bryce West, who recently visited Columbus earlier this month.
West had this to say to Eleven Warriors about the visit:
"“It was a great visit. It opened my eyes a lot, I have been (to OSU) so many times so I already knew what it was like, but it was even more of a better experience this time because I was more around the coaching staff because I was there for a two-day visit. So you got to really see what the experience was like.”"
West would be a major commitment for this coaching staff. They haven’t recruited particularly well at corner recently and adding a top-100 national recruit from your home state is a must for the Scarlet and Gray. West definitely is seen as an Ohio State lean, but there’s still work that needs to be done.
Fellow Ohio native corner and four-star recruit from Springfield, Aaron Scott, is also a must-get for Tim Walton and this coaching staff. Scott took a visit to Columbus earlier this month as well and the No. 36 overall player in the 2024 class has been crystal ball picked to Ohio State by two 247 Sports analysts.
If Walton can get these two players in the recruiting class, it will answer a lot of questions about him. Both these players are highly sought after by the best programs in the country. Walton needs to prove that he can keep the best Ohio corners within its borders. And with the need at corner recruiting so high, these are two have to get players for the Buckeyes.
Hopefully one of them commits soon and that could add a ripple effect for recruits on the defensive side of the ball.
