With Spring practices now over across the country, the Spring transfer portal window has opened. Usually, this is when Ohio State football players who know they won’t play following little action in the Spring Game will put their names in to go play somewhere else before the Fall starts.

We’ve seen this happen a few times over the years. Joe Burrow left after he lost the job to Dwayne Haskins. Jack Miller left after he lost the job to C.J. Stroud. Other players at other positions leave too. This year, though, it hasn’t been the exodus it usually is with the Buckeyes.

So far, only Jake Seibert has entered the portal. He’s a kicker that has been with the program for three years and has decided to leave. He never was able to win the kicking job with the Buckeyes. I was actually surprised he wasn’t able to win it this season.

Other than him, the portal has been pretty quiet as far as Buckeyes leaving this Spring. Perhaps some players haven’t gotten the feedback yet after the Spring Game to make an informed decision quite yet. Whatever the case is, the players have decided to stay.

I’m not sure what this means for the Ohio State football team. It could mean that there are so many battles up for grabs that a lot of players think they still have a chance to win them and get playing time. It could also mean that they just love the university.

On the flip side, this could also mean that since there are so many guys who think they can win battles that the Buckeyes don’t have any elite guys at certain positions like tackle, kicker, and defensive back. That’s something that scares me a little.

Next. Three players who improved their stock most this Spring. dark

We’ll see if any more players decide to enter their names in the portal before the window closes.
