Ohio State Football: 3 players who improved their stock the most during Spring
By Ryan Stano
3. Dallan Hayden
The running back room is as crowded as I’ve seen it in a while for the Ohio State football program. The top two guys are solid for sure, but there is a fight for that third running back spot. Dallan Hayden has done well in Spring to try and ensure that spot is his.
For whatever reason, the coaches didn’t trust him to play much against TTUN or Georgia at the end of last season despite rushing for over 100 yards and 3 touchdowns against Maryland. It didn’t make much sense to me, but that’s what happened. Hayden took that personally as a challenge to get better.
According to all reports from the practices this Spring, he has done just that. Hayden has made himself more of a weapon coming out of the backfield as a receiver too. That will help differentiate him from the other running backs and could be a deciding factor on who gets more snaps.
Miyan Williams and TreVeyon Henderson will still be the ones getting the majority of the snaps. But if one of those guys goes down again, Hayden wants to be the guy that benefits. He seems like a guy that the coaches will trust this year if they have to put him in.
Those are the three guys who improved their stock the most this Spring! Hopefully, they can all continue to improve until the season starts.
