The Ohio State football had its Spring Game yesterday on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. There was a lot of anticipation for what we were about to watch. There were a lot of things that I was very excited to see. I also wanted to see who the heroes from the game were going to be.

There is always a Spring Game hero every year. It’s interesting to see what position groups play well and which group the hero of the game comes from. This year, I think there was one specific hero who was a clear winner of getting some extra playing time.

In all, I think there were three clear winners of a game that was certainly mixed in terms of results from some key players. All three of these guys staked their claim for some playing time when the Fall rolls around and real games are getting played.

The first winner of the game is actually the guy who I think was the true hero of the Spring Game.

1. Chip Trayanum

The Buckeyes have one of the deepest running back rooms in the country heading into the 2023 season. Miyan Williams and TreVeyon Henderson are clearly the top two dogs. They will get most of the carries. After that, it’s up in the air as to who receives the rest of the snaps.

Chip Trayanum made an excellent case for himself on Saturday to get those snaps. He was the only player who was able to make big plays from the backfield. He finished the game with 110 yards rushing, including a 65-yard touchdown run.

Trayanum started out last season as a linebacker and was moved back to running back late in the year after the Buckeyes started getting thin in the backfield. After that, it was decided he will permanently be a running back moving forward. He showed he can tote the rock.

The next winner of the Spring Game was someone who probably won’t see a lot of playing time this year but will next season.
