It’s been over a year since former Ohio State football player Dwayne Haskins was tragically killed in Florida by a dump truck. He had allegedly run out of gas and was trying to cross an interstate while he was legally drunk. Now according to his family, he was drugged as part of a conspiracy.

According to a lawsuit from his family, Haskins was drugged as part of a conspiracy to blackmail and rob him. A toxicology report showed there were drugs in his system at the time of his death as well. His wife, who is the sole heir to Haskins’ estate, is listed as the plaintiff in the suit.

The lawsuit says that Haskins’ watch was taken from him shortly before his death. The suit lists four individuals, two restaurants, a golf driving range, and a hotel as co-defendants. No one has been charged or arrested in connection with Haskins’ death in the year since he passed.

This is a very strange turn on the death of a former Ohio State football player. There is so much that we don’t know a lot about what happened in the hours leading up to his death. Haskins’ wife clearly thinks there was something nefarious going on if she files this type of lawsuit against multiple people.

It’s unclear what the next steps are from here. I don’t really have any opinions to offer up about this because there are so few details about the lawsuit available right now. I can say that I’ll be very interested to see what happens the rest of the way with this suit going forward.

I hope that the family gets some peace no matter how this all shakes out. That’s probably the best-case scenario here.
