3. Alonzo Gaffney

Alonzo Gaffney was another member of the 2019 recruiting class to transfer out of Ohio State. Gaffney was another four-star recruit and has the physical makeup of a good wing. Standing at 6’9 and 198 pounds, he was supposed to be a building block for the Bucks.

Instead, Gaffney left after his freshman season with the Buckeyes. During that season, he played just 6.8 minutes per game in only 17 games. When he was out there, he showed flashes of great potential. He just wasn’t able to get out there often enough.

Interestingly enough, he followed Muhammad to Arizona State. Gaffney’s time there hasn’t been fruitful either. After starting 24 of the 30 games he played last year, he started just 3 of 36 this season. His best collegiate season has seen him score just 4.2 points per game.

Gaffney hasn’t turned into the player that I thought he was going to. His shooting percentage has gone down significantly each year he’s played college basketball. At this point, I don’t think he ever will contribute significantly to a good team. He played on a tournament team this year and didn’t do much for them.

The next player on this list actually played with the Ohio State basketball program for a while.
