Former Ohio State basketball to play for a national title
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State basketball program didn’t get to partake in March Madness this year. They had to sit at home and watch a host of other Big Ten teams take part in the NCAA Tournament instead. Because of that, Buckeye fans didn’t have much to root for this March.
Former Ohio State basketball players did get to play in the tournament though. Alonzo Gaffney and Luther Muhammed both got to play for Arizona State in the postseason. But no former Buckeye got further in the tournament than power forward Jaedon LeDee.
LeDee plays for San Deigo State. LeDee played for the Buckeyes as a freshman in the 2018-19 season. In that year, he played just 6.6 minutes a game and averaged just 3 points. He eventually left that season and went to TCU for two seasons after that.
After that, LeDee transferred to San Diego State this season. As a member of the Aztecs, he has averaged 18 minutes a game off the bench and has contributed 7.9 points and 5.3 rebounds. He’s been a very valuable member of a team that has now made the National Championship Game.
They will be facing UConn on Monday night for the right to win a national title. With LeDee being a former Buckeye, I hope the Aztecs win this game. It’d be nice to see an Ohio State basketball player have some fun this season, even if they don’t play for the Buckeyes anymore.
LeDee and San Diego State will be playing in the National Championship Game at 9:20 pm tomorrow. It should be a fun game to watch as a college basketball fan.
