The Ohio State women’s basketball team had their season end on Monday after they came up short against Virginia Tech. They were playing to make their first Final Four since 1993. In the end, they came up short, losing by ten points to a number-one seed.

Although the Buckeyes came up short, they still made their first Elite Eight since 1993 and stopped UConn’s 14-straight Final Four streak. It was still a great season despite not quite finding a way to really make a deep run in March Madness where something special could happen.

One of the key players on the Ohio State women’s basketball team was Jacy Sheldon. She was arguably the best player on the team last year and was expected to be again this season. Unfortunately, she missed most of the season due to a leg injury but was able to come back for the Big Ten Tournament.

Sheldon has decided to come back for a fifth year and will be playing for the Buckeyes again next year. She announced her decision on social media.

Sheldon feels as though there is unfinished business with this group. It’s a group that will have a lot of good players returning next season and should be a really good team again. Now that Sheldon is returning, they are a true Final Four contender again next season.

Hopefully, Sheldon can stay healthy the entire year and help get the Buckeyes a better seed in the NCAA Tournament this time around. Having come so close to the Final Four this year, these women will be motivated to make it next season.

This is great news for Kevin McGuff and his staff. They continue to be the best basketball team on campus and that won’t change next year either.
