The Ohio State football team had a lot of prospects in town for their intrasquad scrimmage on Saturday. We knew that the Buckeyes were on the cusp of getting some 2024 commitments, and now we have two to report from Saturday, both being from the same family.

The Buckeyes got commitments from twin brothers Devontae Armstrong and Deontae Armstrong, both out of St. Ed’s in the Cleveland area. They are both four-star offensive linemen and are added to the 2024 class. They decided to make their commitments after visiting Ohio State this past weekend.

Both brothers are built similarly, standing at 6’5 and 6’6 respectively, and weighing between 280-288 pounds. Devontae plays on the interior while Deontae plays tackle. Both had offers from the same programs and they will continue to play with one another at the next level.

While both are low four-star prospects, they do have some room to grow into better prospects. Ohio State wasn’t the only major program to offer these brothers either as both guys picked up offers from Georgia just last month. But they decided to stay in the state of Ohio.

The Ohio State football program doesn’t have a lot of depth at offensive line and wasn’t able to add a bunch of linemen in the 2023 cycle. With the Armstrongs committing, four of the six commitments from the 2024 class are now offensive linemen.

Ryan Day has clearly made it a priority to get that depth fixed this cycle. None of the linemen they have are highly rated, but they all have some potential to be more than their current ranking. Having Paris Johnson Jr. about to be a first-rounder doesn’t hurt recruiting either.

Ohio State projected to land five-star receiver. dark. Next

We’ll see how the rest of the 2024 class is built out, but there should be more commitments coming soon. This Spring should be active on the recruiting front.
