The Ohio State football team is back at practice after spring break and their annual Pro Day. After a  bunch of NFL scouts and coaches descended on the Woody, they were back to work on Thursday. The Buckeyes continue to get ready for the Spring Game and the 2023 season.

With the Spring Game being just a couple of weeks away now, there are some things they’d like to get accomplished before that game rolls around. No, one of them will not involve settling on a starting quarterback. But some insight as to who could be starters will be revealed during that game.

Before it gets here, the Buckeyes have to figure out the offensive line. We know that Donovan Jackson and Matthew Jones will be starters at guard. What we don’t know is who the starters at tackle or center will be yet after the Buckeyes lost those starters to the NFL.

Josh Fryar seems to be the leader in the pack to get the left tackle position. That leaves right tackle and center up for grabs. Enokk Vimahi and Zen Michalski are fighting for that right tackle spot. It’s too early to say who has the lead for that spot. As for center, freshman Carson Hinzman has been getting reps with the first team, which is interesting.

Another thing the Ohio State football team needs to accomplish is to get the entire defensive playbook installed. Jim Knowles mentioned that they only had about 75% of it installed last season in his first year. Now there’s now excuse for the players not to know it this season.

Figuring out who gest snaps at the third safety position is something they also need to figure out. I tend to think that those should go to Sonny Styles, but we’ll see what happens the rest of the Spring. I think he’s going to be a really good player.

The Spring Game is April 15th, so they still have a few weeks of practice to figure these things out.
