Ohio State Football: Ohio State Buckeye NFL Mock Draft 2.0
The Ohio State football team is set to put another good amount of talent into the NFL this upcoming draft. Here is where we think they may go.
The Ohio State football team is once again gearing up for the 2023 season with spring practices underway. But with the week off for spring break, now might be a good time to look ahead at where some of the outgoing Buckeyes might land in the NFL draft.
Last month we gave you our first version of the mock draft and now things have changed a bit. With the first few days of NFL free agency, and a major trade at No. 1 overall, behind us, here is our second version of the draft.
At No.1 overall we have C.J. Stroud going to the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers made the big trade with Chicago for this pick last week and it’s certainly with a quarterback in mind. My guess is that QB is Stroud. New head coach Frank Riech has an excellent track record in developing quarterbacks and Stroud is probably the most pro-ready out of the crop in this year’s draft.
With the Bears moving back to No. 9 overall, this would be an excellent spot to take the best offensive tackle in this year’s draft class, Parris Johnson. Johnson had a great combine last month and has all the momentum in being taken inside the top 10 of the draft. With former Buckeye quarterback Justin Fields running for his life all of last season, adding Johnson would be a welcomed addition to Chicago.
It’s a new day in Tennessee as head coach Mike Vrabel has taken more of a hands-on approach within the organization. He was not happy last year when they traded away wide receiver A.J. Brown to the Eagles. Now, he will draft his replacement in Smith-Njigba. JSN ran excellent shuttle times in Indianapolis and is now a surefire first-round pick, with momentum heading toward being inside the top 15.
The second offensive tackle and fourth overall Buckeye to be selected in round one is Dawand Jones. Another Ohio State player gaining momentum in the draft class, Jones’ measurables are at a freakish level. Jones finds a nice landing spot in Kansas City where they have an opening at tackle with Andrew Wylie and Orland Brown Jr. both leaving in free agency.
