The Ohio State football team is ready to begin spring practices today. It will be a big month of hosting recruits.

The Ohio State football team begins preparations for the 2023 season as spring practices are officially underway. 15 total practices will culminate with the annual Spring Game on April 15th in Ohio Stadium. But as the team begins a new season on the field, Ohio State coaches and staff are busy off of it as well.

That’s because Spring practices are often a time for recruits to make official visits to Columbus to see what it’s like to become a Buckeye. This year is no different as Eleven Warriors reported that there will be over 65 recruits in attendance for practices and the spring game.

At the top of that list is five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood of Belleville, Michigan. Ohio State and quarterbacks coach Corey Dennis have recently got pretty aggressive in his recruitment as Dylan Raiola, the No. 1 quarterback in the 2024 class, de-committed from the program a few months back.

Underwood would be a great consolation prize given the circumstances. And although he is in the 2025 class, he still would be seen as a replacement for Raiola given how this quarterback room is shaping up. Underwood is scheduled to visit Columbus on March 25th.

Another major prospect who will be visiting is James Peoples on March 30th. Ohio State is in the mix with Oklahoma and Texas on this 2024 four-star running back from San Antonio. Currently ranked as the No. 6 back in the class, Peoples reminds a lot of recruiting gurus of former Buckeye tailback J.K. Dobbins.

Lastly, cornerback Marcelles Williams of St. John Bosco High School in California is scheduled to come to Columbus on April 1st. Williams is a huge recruit for the Scarlet and Gray as they try to fix the cornerback room under coach Tim Walton. Williams is a four-star top 70 national player in the 2024 class.

Hopefully, Ohio State can impress these kids over the course of the next few months and get some of them to verbally commit. The Buckeyes only have three verbals for its 2024 class so things have to start to get rolling for Ohio State.
