Ohio State basketball: Brice Sensabaugh gets honored
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State basketball season was not a successful one. They will likely play just one more game this year, that being the game against Wisconsin. One player did have a great year offensively and they got rewarded for it. That player is Brice Sensabaugh.
Sensabaugh was selected for Third-Team All-Big Ten by the media. He was the only Ohio State player to be selected to any of the three All-Big Ten teams. Sensabaugh finished the year with averages of 16.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game.
Sensabaugh did his scoring by shooting 48% from the field and 41.5% from three. He was the most efficient scorer that the Buckeyes had all year, even if he struggled in the middle of the season. Everyone on the team did though and that’s why they lost games.
To no one’s surprise, Sensabaugh was also named to the All-Freshman team by both the media and the coaches. That was a no-brainer. He was the best freshman on the Buckeyes, so he was the only Ohio State basketball player selected to that team too.
Sensabaugh will need to be elite this week if the Buckeyes are going to make a miraculous run to win the Big Ten Tournament. It’s the only way that the team will see some postseason action. He played okay against the Badgers the first time these teams met.
The team’s lack of success does nothing to distort how well Sensabaugh played this year. He is still likely a one-and-done guy after being recruited as someone who was supposed to stay multiple seasons. He’s good enough to go to the NBA after this year though.
Congrats to Sensabaugh. It’s good to celebrate something positive after a season with so many negatives.
