The Ohio State football team usually has at least one good home game in every season they play. Whether it’s a good non-conference game or a good Big Ten opponent, they usually have a game that fans can look forward to going to every single year.

That is not the case in 2023. Neither of the Buckeye’s biggest games will be at home. Both the Notre Dame and TTUN games will be on the road. That leaves them with just two games at home that will be considered decent games. That would be games against Penn State and Michigan State.

It’s unclear if either team will even be ranked in the preseason top 25 once the polls come out in August. If you are a fan considering getting season tickets, this is a year that you might pass on doing so. In fact, I won’t be getting tickets this year either.

Part of it is the crappy slate of games. Another part of it is the fact that Ohio State keeps raising ticket prices despite these years when the home schedule is bad. My money is better spent elsewhere than watching the Buckeyes beat up on Western Kentucky.

Even though the slate is bad, the Ohio State football team will be favored in every game at home this season. The only game that could be remotely close is the Penn State game on October 21st. That largely hinges on how well Drew Allar plays as a first-time starting quarterback.

2024 will at least see the Buckeyes take on TTUN at home. We’ll see what they do with the non-con schedule now that they canceled with Washington. But the scheduling has not been favorable to Ohio State football fans. I guess I’ll settle for watching the Buckeyes on TV more this year.
