The NFL Combine is this week in Indy and NFL prospects from all over the country are converging on Lucas Oil Stadium with hopes of improving their draft stock. Several Ohio State football players will be in attendance, including C.J. Stroud, who is hoping to be the number one overall pick.

Stroud had the best game of his career as the last game of his career against Georgia, so the scouts like the last thing they saw on tape. Not only that, but they like his size too. He also has a chance to jump ahead of the other quarterback who could be the top pick, Bryce Young.

That’s because Stroud has opted to throw at the Combine while Young will wait until his Pro Day to do so. That gives Stroud a chance to show the scouts even more about the strength of his arm. He’ll throw at both the Combine and his Pro Day.

Stroud has the reputation of having a great arm but not an elite one. He has the chance to change that narrative this week. We also saw during the 2021 Combine and subsequent Pro Days how some of these throws can impact what scouts think after Zach Wilson wowed them with throws. Now he looks like a huge bust.

There will be plenty of teams watching Stroud throw this week because a lot of teams need quarterbacks. I think there’s one particular team that he would fit best with, but we’ll see if that team gets a chance to take him. As I said, he could be the number one pick.

That has increased in odds because the Bears are now willing to trade the top pick. That means a quarterback-hungry team could move up and take someone they really like. If Stroud throws well this week, that QB could be him.
