We all know that the Ohio State basketball team has had a rough season. Today, they were finally able to get a win. It was the first time they had won in the month of February and the victory broke a nine-game losing streak. A big reason why they finally broke that streak is because of Bruce Thornton.

Thornton had 20 points in the game. It was his second good offensive performance in a row. He has done some good things in his last few games after he admitted to hitting a bit of a freshman wall. He’s actually playing the best of any Buckeye player right now.

Heading into the final two games of the season, Thornton is the most important player on the Ohio State basketball team right now. If he plays well in those last two games, he could take that momentum into next season where he can make a leap in his game.

Brice Sensabaugh will likely be heading to the NBA after this season. That will leave Thornton as the best threat offensively on the roster next year. His combination of size and shot-making make him a dangerous combination as a point guard. He’s shown some good things on defense too.

Thornton needs to be the focal point of the offense for the next two games. The Buckeyes need to get him comfortable looking for his shot more. Sensabaugh will get his shots because he doesn’t move the ball very well. But that’s okay because of how efficient he is at scoring.

dark. Next. Rumors swirling around about Holtmann leaving OSU

Thornton has shown that he can pass the ball well even if the assist numbers don’t necessarily show it. We’ll see if he’s able to use the last couple of games as a springboard into a big sophomore year and hopefully some more team success.
