Can the Ohio State football team stop Audric Estime again?

When Ohio State took on Notre Dame to start the 2022 season, they were really good at stopping the run. In fact, they stopped Notre Dame’s entire offense. That game saw the Fighting Irish gain just 253 yards of total offense, with 54 of them being on the very first play.

Audric Estime was the running back who got most of the carries in that game. He had 9 carries for 28 yards and Notre Dame’s only touchdown. While that was a disappointing effort for him, he really stepped up as the year went along and got a lot better.

Estime ended up finishing his sophomore season with 920 yards and 11 touchdowns on 156 carries. That’s good enough for 5.9 yards per carry. With Michael Mayer going to the NFL, Notre Dame will have to find someone else to carry the offense. Estime could be that guy.

Estime is someone who can run and catch the ball out of the backfield. He’s the best back on the roster and should be the focal point of the Fighting Irish’s gameplan against the Buckeyes when they visit South Bend at the end of September. He’s going to be ready to go.

Jim Knowles will have to bottle him up again like he did last year if the Buckeyes want to escape with a victory early in the season. The final player on this list is someone who didn’t really play against Ohio State last year, but it didn’t really matter.
