Ohio State basketball: Buckeyes suffer another embarrassing loss
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State basketball team suffered another embarrassing loss today, this time at the hands of Purdue. It was their 8th straight loss and it was never closed once the second half started. They ended up losing 82-55 and never looked good offensively.
Ohio State actually started out okay and jumped out to an early lead. It was all downhill after that though. They couldn’t stop fouling Purdue and the Boilermakers got easy points at the free-throw line all game long. Purdue attempted 27 free throws while Ohio State had just 11.
Scoring 55 points is never going to win you a basketball game. The only player who was any good offensively for the Buckeyes was Brice Sensabaugh, at least in terms of points scored. He had 20 points on 8/16 shooting. He also added 5 rebounds and 2 assists.
Sensabaugh also had some terrible plays too. He took some awful shots, including one in triple coverage. He also couldn’t play defense and tried to steal a rebound from Okpara, which resulted in it going out of bounds instead. He was only playing for himself and not the team.
This team seems like they have tuned out Chris Holtmann. He was trying to give instructions and was really getting animated out there. And yet, there was no response. The Buckeyes kept playing the same awful brand of basketball they have for the last two months.
This was an expected loss for the Ohio State basketball team. For some odd reason, I did think they would cover. I have no idea why I would have thought that, but I did. Clearly, that was a wrong thought too. I’m not sure this team can cover any games down the stretch.
The next chance for them to break the losing streak will come Thursday night in the Schott against Penn State.
