Ohio State basketball: When is the Big Ten Tournament?
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State basketball team has not won a Big Ten Tournament title since Chris Holtmann took over the program six years ago. They haven’t won a regular-season Big Ten title either. That won’t happen this year, but winning the Big Ten Tournament is the only chance they have of making the NCAA Tournament.
Winning the Big Ten Tournament would give the Buckeyes an automatic berth into March Madness. The question is whether or not Ohio State would play well enough to even win one game in the tournament. Especially after an eighth-straight loss that Purdue handed them on Sunday.
So when is the Big Ten Tournament? It is March 8-12 this year and it is in Chicago this year. The Buckeyes will likely play on that Wednesday because of how bad their seeding will be. They will likely be one of the two worst teams in the Big Ten by the time the regular season ends.
The winner will be crowned on that Sunday. The Big Ten traditionally has the last game before the committee announces the NCAA field. If the Ohio State basketball team is going to be playing in March Madness, they will have to be playing in that final game.
If they aren’t they will be sitting at home watching the tournament like the rest of us. The Big Ten Tournament will still be fun to watch even if we don’t expect the Buckeyes to make much noise during the tournament. I still enjoy watching other good teams play basketball
