C.J. Stroud was a really good player for the Ohio State football team. He was a two-time Heisman Finalist. Because of his play the last two years, Stroud will now be a first-round pick. In fact, he will likely be a top-ten pick. He’s one of the best quarterbacks in this draft.

In order for Stroud to be the number one overall player taken, though, he has to have a good Combine. It’s likely between him and Bryce Young for that top spot. The Houston Texans own that pick and have definitely been doing a load of work on both players since the season ended.

The big knock on Young is his size. He’s very small for a quarterback, specifically in his frame. He might only weigh 180-190 pounds. That’s very frail for a quarterback in the NFL. We’ve seen other light quarterbacks start to get hurt in the league because they can’t stand the cumulative hits.

Stroud has no such issue. He’s a big guy standing at 6’3 and 220 pounds. He has a big enough frame that he should be able to handle hits coming his way. The other big difference between the two players is the willingness to run and get some extra yards when nothing else is available.

Young had the beat on Stroud on that one until the final game of the year. In that game, Stroud showed that he was able to get yards if he needed to. He wasn’t really willing to run all year except for the Northwestern game when the weather made it impossible to throw.

The way Stroud moved showed his ability to move against the best team in the country is what has him in the conversation for the number-one pick. A great Combine will cement his claim to being the top pick.
