Ohio State Football: Buckeyes in Top 6 of Four-star running back
The Ohio State football team has made the top six list of schools for a major running back recruit. Hopefully, Tony Alford can seal the deal.
It was announced this week that 2024 four-star, top 100 running back James Peoples of San Antonio, Texas has narrowed his list of schools to six. In the mix are Ohio State, Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas, TCU, and Oregon. All of these schools have a great recent track record of success for running backs so the race should be tight for his commitment.
It’s believed that the Buckeyes are high on that list of six along with Oklahoma and Alabama. But the Texas native also has family ties to the state of Ohio. Here is what Peoples said via Eleven Warriors:
"“My parents were both born in Ohio and something that’s big on my list is my family making it to my games, so that’s appealing about Ohio State too.”"
Also, good news for the Buckeyes is the fact that Peoples plans to visit Ohio State at the end of March to check out some spring practices. Peoples will get a good look on what it takes to become a Buckeye. Tony Alford and Peoples seem to have a good relationship as Peoples has held a scholarship offer from the Buckeyes since October.
The need for Alford to get two very good backs in the 2024 class is imperative. Both Miyan Williams and TreVeyon Henderson could be gone after next season and that would only leave three scholarship tailbacks on the roster. Alford has handed out 11 scholarship offers to runningbacks this class so he’s casting a wide net in hopes of landing two big catches.
Peoples is at the top of that list as well as fellow four-star backs Stacy Gage of St. Thomas Aquinas in Florida, and Jordan Marshall of Moeller High School in Cincinnati. Getting two of those three recruits would be major wins on the recruiting trail for Tony Alford.
