At this point, you should be surprised if you see me writing about a win from the Ohio State basketball team. Under Chris Holtmann, losing has become the norm. They lost another game Thursday night, this time to Northwestern. It was the same old story for them.

The Buckeyes have been struggling on offense. That continued in the first half of this game, scoring just 27 points. What helped is that Northwestern only scored 28, so they were in the game. The problem is that Ohio State couldn’t make free throws or threes.

Those missed opportunities ended up being the difference as the Wildcats won the game 69-63. Not only could the Ohio State basketball team not hit threes, but they couldn’t keep Northwestern from hitting them either. That’s a bad combination when you’re trying to win a basketball game.

Justice Sueing did his best to bring the Buckeyes a victory. He had 29 points on 7-11 shooting. He was one of the reasons why Ohio State was able to get it to within four at the end of the game. This is one of the few games in which he’s played well recently.

Brice Sensabaugh seems to have lost some trust of the coaching staff too. He came off the bench again in this game and played poorly for the second straight game. He was just 1-8 from the field and took tough, contested shots all game. He just tried to score using iso dribbles.

If you shoot 1-14 from the three-point line and 64% from the free-throw line, you’re not going to win many games. If you allow your opponents to make 12 threes, you’re not going to win many games either. Ohio State did both of those things, and that’s why they walked out of the Schott with another loss.

If you still think Chris Holtmann is fit to lead this program, I don’t know what to tell you. His team has now lost 10 of their last 11 games. The results speak for themselves.
