The Ohio State football team is putting some serious wide receiver talent into the NFL. Brian Hartline is putting PFF on notice.

The Ohio State football team has been WRU ever since Brian Hartline took over as receivers coach in 2018. The talent that they have put into the NFL is second to none. And every season PFF puts out an early ranking of the top 10 returning wide receivers in college football.

Historically, a different Buckeye has been tops on that list for three straight years now. That’s an incredible feat in itself but Ohio State has also had the second-ranked wide receiver in two out of those three years as well. But that hasn’t stopped Brian Hartline from calling out PFF for three seasons running now. Hartline said this via Twitter:

"“There seems to be a trend 🌰 And every year I mention, “they’re missing one or two.” So I’ll say it again, You’re missing 1 in the top 10… 🤷🏻”"

The amazing thing is that he’s always correct. Three years ago, they left off Jaxon Smith-Nijigba. Two years ago, they forgot about Marvin Harrison Jr. Last year they left off Emeka Egbuka. And one can only speculate on who they’re leaving off this year as Marvin Harrison Jr. and Egbuka are one and two in PFF’s rankings.

I think it’s safe to say that Brian Hartline expects a big season out of former five-star, top-two national player Julian Fleming for this upcoming season. Fleming was terrific in spreading the field last year vertically and that should only continue heading into the 2023 season.

It’s just crazy to think about all the talent Ohio State has had in that receiver’s room over the past three seasons. To go from Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson to what they have in the room today is astonishing and it won’t end anytime soon for the Scarlet and Grey as Hartline continues to stack five-star receivers.
