This weekend is the final game of football we will have until late August. That is unless you count the USFL as football. The Ohio State football team’s Spring Game is in April, so that helps too. Either way, the Super Bowl is our last chance at true, competitive football.

It’ll be the Philadelphia Eagles taking on the Kansas City Chiefs. Both of these teams have won Super Bowls recently. The Eagles won back in 2018 and the Chiefs won in 2019. Neither of these teams is close to Columbus, so who should you root for as an Ohio State football fan?

You should root for the Eagles. The Eagles have the lone Buckeye representative in this game in running back Trey Sermon. Sermon likely won’t get any playing time in this game, but if you want a Buckeye to get a Super Bowl ring, Philly is the team you cheer for.

This is a surprisingly light year for former Buckeyes in the Super Bowl. Had either the 49ers beaten Philly or the Bengals beat the Chiefs, there would have been several Buckeyes in the Super Bowl. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. Sermon is the only representative.

As far as rooting interests go, I guess I’ll cheer for Philly? I’m not sure, honestly. Philly rubs me the wrong way for some reason, but I’m also getting tired of the Chiefs being so good. I guess it’s really a tie for me, and I guess the tie goes to the Buckeye. So I’ll be cheering for Sermon to get a ring.

Next. OSU needs better strength and conditioning. dark

The big game will be played on Sunday and will kick off around 6:25 pm on FOX. I’m sure it’s a game that everyone who reads this website will be watching around friends or family. It should be a good one.
