Ohio State basketball gets bludgeoned by Michigan
By Ryan Stano
Stop me if you’ve heard this before; the Ohio State basketball team lost. It’s become the norm for this team in the 2023 calendar year. In fact, since the calendar changed, the Buckeyes have won just twice. Sunday afternoon at Michigan was not one of those times.
It was a game that the Buckeyes never looked like they had a chance to win. They got killed down low the entire game by Hunter Dickinson. He had 26 points on 10-15 shooting. Ohio State had no answer for him down low. He could do anything he wanted in the paint.
Brice Sensabaugh was moved to the bench and it must’ve hurt his confidence because he did not shoot well at all. He was only 4-14 for 14 points. He wasn’t able to get anything going on offense for a team that already struggles mightily in that aspect of the game.
In the end, the Ohio State basketball team lost 77-69. It’s yet another failure in a season full of failures. The calls to fire Chris Holtmann will only grow louder now that they have lost to their rivals. It’s the first time the Buckeyes have been under .500 this late in the season since 2003.
The Buckeyes are in a free fall with no parachute. There’s no end in sight to how bad it will get. They will be sitting at home in March. I highly doubt they will even get to play in the NIT. Heck, the CBI might not even be something this team gets an invite for.
This is as bad as it’s gotten for the Buckeyes in a really long time. I don’t know what else they can do to improve other than get rid of Holtmann at the end of the year, but we know that isn’t going to happen. This year is a lost year despite having a lot of talent.
This team isn’t fun to watch. It’s actually painful watching them trying to run the half-court offense. It’s embarrassing and the fans deserve better.
