This is not the type of year that the Ohio State basketball team was expecting. They were expected to actually do something in March this year. After bringing in a top ten recruiting class this, this was supposed to be the year that the Buckeyes made the Sweet 16.

Instead, this year has been an absolute disaster for the Buckeyes. They showed that against IU. After trying the game at 30, they never got anywhere close to the Hoosiers. This team is just flat out bad, which doesn’t make sense for the amount of individual talent that is on the roster.

The Buckeyes are definitely not making the NCAA Tournament. Heck, this team might not even make the NIT. It’s a complete embarrassment to the culture that Thad Matta built before he was fired. This team has no fight in it at all. They run no offense.

I don’t really know where they go from here. This seems like a team that just goes through the motions for the rest of the year. With this loss, they’re only a game above .500. I bet they finish the season under that mark. You can tell they just don’t respond to Holtmann anymore.

Unfortunately, they’re not going to get rid of Holtmann this year after they signed him to a very stupid contract extension at the end of last year. There was no reason to do that except Gene Smith clearly has no standards for the men’s basketball program.

If you still watch this team the rest of the year, watch the women’s team too. Watch how much more fun it is to watch the women than the men. They are actually well-coached and they actually have a chance to do something in March. All Holtmann’s team is going to be doing us watching other teams play from the couch.
