Ohio State Football: Buckeyes offer big-time RB recruit
The Ohio State football team continues to shell out scholarship offers for both the 2024 and 2025 classes. Tony Alford just offered a big-time running back recruit.
The Ohio State football team just gave four-star running back recruit DeJuan Williams of Baltimore, Maryland a scholarship offer this past week. Williams becomes the latest in an effort to secure at least two top running back prospects in the 2024 recruiting class. The Buckeyes have offered 11 running backs in the 2024 cycle as the need at the position is apparent to both Ryan Day and running backs coach Tony Alford.
Williams checks in as 247Sports No. 299 best overall prospect, but insiders believe that ranking will start to climb now that he has a major offer from Ohio State. Other top programs that have offered him include Arizona, Louisville, Maryland, Michigan, Penn State, Pittsburgh, and Virginia Tech.
Tony Alford is going all out to nab two top running backs in this class after he failed to sign one in 2023. Four-star back Mark Fletcher was supposed to be Alford’s 2023 recruit, but he flipped to Miami in November. So, much like the 2021 class where Alford got both TreyVeon Henderson and Evan Pryor, he’s going to have to do that again in 2024.
In other running back recruiting news, Stacy Gage, a top 150 recruit from Fort Lauderdale, Florida is coming to Columbus for a visit this spring. The St. Thomas Aquinas star back was on campus last spring for a visit as well as for the Michigan game this past November. Things are trending in the right way for the Buckeyes on Gage’s recruitment.
