Ohio State Football: How high will C.J. Stroud go in the Draft?
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team had a good two years of play from C.J. Stroud. He won the job over both Kyle McCord and Jack Miller back in the 2021 season. Since winning the job, Stroud has increased his level of play each year. His best game was his last one against Georgia.
After much speculation, the Peach Bowl did indeed end up being Stroud’s final game for the Buckeyes. He officially declared for the draft on Monday morning after waiting until the final day possible to declare. There were rumors he might return to Ohio State.
In the end, he made the right decision. He needs to go to the NFL and be a top-five pick. This is the highest his stock will ever be. The question now is how far he could jump up in the draft order. Is there a chance that he could end up being the number-one overall pick?
I think there is a decent chance that he does end up getting to the number one pick. He has better measurables than Bryce Young in terms of body size. He also showed scouts that he can take off and run with the ball if he needs to to get some first downs against Georgia.
Stroud’s floor seems to be in the top five. Young and Stroud are by far the two best quarterback prospects in this draft. Teams will trade up into the top five to take one of these guys. Stroud would be the third consecutive Ohio State football quarterback to be taken in the first round.
It’s now up to how well he performs in the Combine to see just how high he can get drafted. Wherever he ends up, we wish him the best of luck. We will be following his NFL career too.
