Ohio State basketball: Match-up vs Rutgers is “must-win” for Buckeyes

The Ohio State basketball team is looking to avoid a four-game losing streak today as they travel to Rutgers for a rematch with the Scarlet Knights. The Buckeyes are officially now in “must-win” territory this afternoon.

Getting a win at Rutgers today is definitely easier said than done. The two teams are both trending in opposite directions. The Buckeyes are currently on a three-game losing skid, while Rutgers has won six of their last eight games including a win at Purdue.

With the schedule they have coming up for the Buckeyes, the losing streak has to end today. After today Ohio State travels to Nebraska to take on the Cornhuskers. Then they come back home to play a tough Iowa team, and to round out January they hit the road again to take on Indiana and Illinois.

The Buckeyes need to play with a lot more energy and toughness than they did in the loss to Minnesota. Rutgers left Columbus back in December with a bad taste in their mouth after the controversial loss the Buckeyes handed them. So, the Scarlet Knights are going to play a little more inspired today.

It’s a reoccurring key each Ohio State basketball game, but it’s crucial for the Buckeyes to handle pressure today if they want to leave Piscataway with a win. Ohio State had 14 turnovers the last meeting with Rutgers. That number will have to decrease significantly today.

A win today today could be the turning point of the season. We’re in the point of January where every game matters. Today is a must-win for Ohio State.
