As the Ohio State football team’s season wrapped up on Saturday night with a loss in the Peach Bowl, two Buckeyes immediately entered the transfer portal.

The Ohio State football team is about to lose two more players to the transfer portal. Immediately following the Buckeyes’ heartbreaking 42-41 loss to Georgia in the Peach Bowl, long snapper Mason Arnold and cornerback Lloyd McFarquhar have entered the portal.

Arnold took over the long snapping duties halfway through the season as Bradley Robinson suffered a season-ending injury. He filled in admirably as there were really no noticeable bad snaps throughout his playing time.

Arnold unfortunately will be remembered however for the botched fake punt attempt in the Michigan game. He apparently didn’t hear the call, as the play more than likely would have led to a first down for Ohio State and possibly a momentum switch.

Arnold is probably looking for a starting job somewhere in college football as it became evident with the transfer portal addition of former Arizona State long snapper John Ferlmann, that he would not be the starter with the Ohio State football program.

McFarquhar is a senior walk-on corner, from my high school alma mater, Brush High School outside of Cleveland. He never really got on the field at Ohio State and is possibly looking for one season of actual playing time before his eligibility is up.

If you remember McFarquhar’s name being mentioned in the transfer portal that’s because he did enter it last offseason before opting back in with Ohio State. Our very own Charles Post had an interview with him last year about wanting a bigger role:

"“I’m very appreciative of my time here and all I’ve learned throughout these years. I believe now it’s time to explore and go somewhere I can have a bigger role on the field at a different program.”"

So best of luck to McFarquhar and Arnold as they look for playing time next season. Hopefully, Ohio State can actually start adding some transfer portal additions as the need for a starting-caliber offensive tackle and cornerback are apparent.
