Ohio State Football: Buckeyes totally locked in on Georgia
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team has arrived in Atlanta for the Peach Bowl. They are now totally and utterly focused on the Bulldogs this week. Now that the recruiting period is over until February, Ryan Day and his staff can focus on beating Georgia.
This is a game that will take all of their focus. Georiga has been the best team all year by a fairly wide margin. They don’t have any losses and only a couple of wins by close margins. There’s a reason that they have been the top-ranked team all season long.
Day knows that this game gives his team a second lease on life. If they are somehow able to pull the upset, they can play for a national title after not winning their own division. That hasn’t happened since Alabama did it back against these same Bulldogs in 2017.
We know that Georgia is favored in the game, and they should be. It makes sense that the undefeated national champs get that sort of respect. I would expect the Buckeyes to play the underdog card all week and use it to their full advantage.
Ohio State’s mental focus is going to be the difference in this game. How well can Day adjust on the fly? What kind of play calls will he dial-up in the second half? Will he still be aggressive in the second half? Or will he turtle up like he did against Michigan a month ago?
All of these questions will be answered soon enough. The Ohio State football team has to put all of the distractions away from them right now. They have to lock in and focus on their assignments and everything it takes to beat a great team like Georgia. It’s officially game week.
