Ohio State Football player announces cancer diagnosis
By Ryan Stano
Cancer is something that has touched almost everyone’s lives at some point. If you have never known anyone who has had cancer in your life, count yourself extremely lucky. The Ohio State football team cannot be counted as one of those few lucky people anymore.
That’s because freshman Avery Henry made an announcement on Twitter last night. Henry announced that he has been diagnosed with a type of bone cancer. You can see the full statement that Henry put out below.
Henry is a freshman from St. Clairsville, Ohio. He was a three-star recruit in the 2022 recruiting class and is an offensive tackle. Henry was a guy that the Buckeyes were hoping could end up having a lot of potential and possibly playing in a couple of years.
All of that will be put on the back burner for now. The only thing that matters is for him to get healthy and fight this disease. It’s unclear what his prognosis is, but hopefully it’s good. He will certainly get the best care possible at the James at Ohio State.
The Ohio State football team will no doubt be playing for him as they take on Georgia at the end of the month. They will want to win the game for their brother. Hopefully, we can see Henry get back on the field as soon as possible and he beats cancer.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Henry and his family.
