2. Ohio State football must help out the corners.

This is not a new issue that just cropped up against the Wolverines. The Buckeyes have given up big plays in the passing game all season long. It seems like the corners have regressed despite both Denzel Burke and Cam Brown having a lot of experience.

They got more exposed against TTUN. The Buckeyes need to help their corners out. They can’t be put on islands against Georgia’s receivers. Stetson Bennett is a much better quarterback than JJ McCarthy. He can actually throw the ball deep and not underthrow the receiver by ten yards.

Jim Knowles must keep some of his safeties deep to keep big plays from happening. If that comes at the expense of stopping the run, so be it. Those big pass plays are what killed the Buckeyes, not the two long runs. The game was over by that point.

Some timely blitzes from different places might help too. Nothing helps cornerbacks like pressure on the quarterback. The front seven is going to be challenged to make sure that they get into Bennett’s face. Pressure on him will also put more pressure on Georgia’s run game.

I’d like to see some stunts up front to help with getting that pressure too. Literally, anything Knowles can do to help out these cornerbacks. They can get any help they can get. The final key for the Buckeyes winning this game comes down to Ryan Day.
