The Ohio State football team has had a bit of a slow finish to their 2023 recruiting class. They haven’t been able to lock up some of the five-star guys that they have had their eyes on all year. The same can’t be said for the 2024 class, which has started with an absolute bang.

You know that the Buckeyes were able to grab the number one overall recruit in that class earlier this year. That recruit is five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola out of Arizona. Now, they have someone for him to throw the ball to in that class as well.

The Ohio State football team now has the number one and number two overall recruits for 2024.

Brian Hartline has done it again. The Buckeyes have gained a commitment from Jeremiah Smith, a five-star receiver from Opa Locka, Florida. He is also the number two overall recruit in the class and is yet another five-star receiver that Hartline has been able to bring into Columbus.

Smith is a big receiver, standing at 6’3 and 185 pounds. He is someone that has the full package. He can run any route, has excellent hands, and has some good straight-line speed. He’s also not done filling out his body frame yet either, so he might get bigger.

With these two top recruits in hand, the Buckeyes are set to have a massive 2024 class. It’s still very early of course, and NIL is still a thing as well. If you don’t think other schools are approaching either recruit with a lot of money, you’re fooling yourself.

This is a very good start to the 2024 recruiting cycle for Ryan Day and his staff. I’m really hoping he can use some of that momentum to finish the 2023 recruiting cycle out strong as well. We’ll find out about that very soon.
