The Ohio State football team is losing another defensive back to the transfer portal as Jantzen Dunn will head somewhere else.

The Ohio Ste football team has lost its second defensive back in less than a week following the breaking news that Jantzen Dunn, the second-year defensive back from Bowling Green, Kentucky will be leaving the Ohio State program.

Dunn took to Twitter on Tuesday to announce his decision, just as Ryan Day’s Peach Bowl press conference was wrapping up.

Dunn has not played much and is another player who has been passed up on the depth chart. He was seen on the injury report during his time as a Buckeye, so maybe that has something to do with it.

Coming into Ohio State as a four-star top 200 recruit at safety, Dunn seemed to never fit Jim Knowles’ scheme, while also not contributing much on special teams. He was a part of Kerry Coombs’ 2020 defensive back recruiting haul, so he might be another candidate to land at Cincinnati where Coombs will continue to be on staff.

His announcement shouldn’t come as a surprise, it’s expected now in this day and age of the transfer portal that talented recruits who don’t see playing time early or get passed up on the depth chart will surely look elsewhere to play.

Dunn is the third Buckeye to announce his departure, joining linebacker Teradja Mitchell and fellow defensive back Jaylen Johnson.

Look for Ohio State to use the transfer portal soon for their own benefit as they will have some holes to plug in the secondary and along the offensive line when their season comes to a close. Hopefully, Dunn finds a nice landing spot to continue his college career.
