Ohio State Football rumor: OSU could lose RB to transfer portal
By Ryan Stano
It’s transfer portal season. Now that the season is over for the majority of college football programs, save for the bowl games and the four teams competing for a national title, players are entering the transfer portal. The Ohio State football team has already had two players do just that.
Now that the portal has become a thing, this is just a way of life now. Coaches have to learn how to navigate these waters to make their programs the best that they can be. There has been some chatter that the Buckeyes might lose more than just the two players that are already gone though.
There has been some chatter on social media and message boards that Tennessee has been in pursuit of running back Dallan Hayden and have a lucrative NIL package awaiting him. The Vols are trying to poach the true freshman after he got just two carries against Michigan.
Could the Ohio State football team lose Dallan Hayden to Tennessee?
Hayden wasn’t supposed to play at all this year. After Evan Pryor tore his ACL and various injuries knocked out Miyan Williams and TreVeyon Henderson at different points in the year, Hayden was thrust into getting some snaps. His best day was against Maryland, where he had three touchdowns.
It was perplexing that Hayden didn’t get the bulk of the carries against TTUN. I wouldn’t be totally shocked if he was looking around elsewhere. However, I tend to discredit these types of rumors. Rumors that start on message boards aren’t exactly the most credible.
Hayden is from the state of Tennessee, so it would be a homecoming of sorts. I would say this rumor is just that; a rumor. I don’t put any stock in it right now, but it is worth monitoring. You never know what happens with the world of NIL in full swing now.
